I wanted to follow up my last "I'm giving up" (in reference to drawing) journal with one about something I'm not giving up on: my gameshow.

Some of you know, I've been starting a live trivia gameshow I do here in Orlando (well, Winter Park), FL called The Synapse. You can think of it a little like team-based You Don't Know Jack. Two teams of two come on stage and battle their half-drunk brains off in order to win prizes and bar tabs. I made a flash app that displays questions and use 360 controllers as buzzers. I tweak things here and there, but overall the product is good--and offers more than other local "trivia night" experiences.

The problem is getting people to come. Last night we had not only a trivia night but my birthday party and only 5 people where there...and two of them were me and Crystal. We couldn't even do a single game. It was beyond depressing. (I did, however, entertain the small crowd with a showing of Dr. Horrible)

I think the source of the issue is that trivia night is too much in flux. We were doing it once a month and the day of which kept changing. There was no consistency. No one knew...and every other trivia night had a regular timeslot.

So I don't want this to be another project I have to scrap due to lack of interest. I'm sick of building a life on failed experiences and I'm pushing forward on this one--last night's turn out be damned.

Starting sometime next Month, The Synapse trivia gameshow will be hosted WEEKLY by me at Tatame Sake Bar & Tea Lounge. Every Sunday night starting at 8pm.

I'm going to build a local audience and then an online audience--until this becomes a big success. Eventually there will be iPhone apps and video podcasts and sponsorships and the whole nine. There is a trajectory to this that I believe in.

The short term problem is this, though. Outside of getting an audience, I have a LOT of questions I'll now have to write each week. So to offset some of the load I'm going to purpose to Tatame's owner that we turn Sunday into "Nerd Night". I'll do trivia (just less rounds) and intersperse in geeky film screenings and local and/or independent music (including NERDCORE hip hop). It'll be a night for the geeks!

So lend me your opinions. What would YOU be most interested in seeing in a nerd night? Any particular movies or shows? I'd love to interview MC Chris or someone if he comes to town ala a Q&A session there--though I doubt I could make that happen.

Still. Let me know what YOU would look for. Remember, SOME parts of this I can eventually bring online (can't show movies, obviously...unless they're under Creative Commons).
