Crystal and myself headed over to Circuit City yesterday to hope to feed on the corpse of the now dead retailer. When CompUSA closed down, for instance, we were able to snag our soon-to-be useful HD camcorder for 60% off and I would have got more if I had that sort of money at the time.

But our hopes for a repeat were dashed. Anything worth buying was only 10% off and even then it was cheaper on Amazon.com (I checked with my cell phone). Sure, a replacement battery for my camcorder (which I need) went from $70 to $50...but I bought that same battery at Batteries Plus for $40 the other day (waiting for it to come in though). It's like everything in the store went up 20% and then discounted 10%. It was a rip off.


Apparently, I'm the only one that did the math, though, as the store was PACKED. Long lines, wall-to-wall people and they've had better labor day sales!


So word to the wise. Don't go blindly into that red night, my friends. Maybe check back right when they're on their final week when they have to do deeper discounts.
