Forgot to mention before, but I'm trying to get together some interested people that wish to learn Adobe Illustrator (and maybe Photoshop) in order to do some live tutorials via LiveStream. I'm going to aim my class for newcomers to Illustrator (or those that otherwise "just don't get it"...and of course will be free.

I'm still trying to figure out a time that would let the most people watch LIVE and participate in the chat room (so I'm not talking to myself and can take questions) but LiveStream will also record it for an archive so others can watch it after the fact.

If there's anyone that would be interested in coming by and sitting in, just leave me a comment. If you have an idea for what the best time/day would be, that would be helpful to. I just don't do Saturdays since that's when we do I Am Nerd.

_The Recap

I mentioned before that I got into a car accident. My finger got fractured, but is now better (well, 99%), and had to resort to a bicycle to get around. And as part of that I've also been exercising fairly regularly (though not sure if it shows) with either biking, treadmill, or (most recently) swimming. No job. No girlfriend. Reading Ayn Rand. That's my life right now...more or less.

_The Need for Speed

Truth is without a vehicle it's hard to do a lot. Hard to have a job because until they need a programmer at my local Target, chances are I can't just take my bicycle to work. Hard to get groceries over 6 lbs without it seeming like my basket will break. Hard to just go anyplace that's not 2 miles away.

I need a vehicle.

With no job and no want of a car note to replace the old one (only bright side of the accident) I need something I can pay for outright. This means a shitty car I may have to pay a lot to fix or a pretty good condition motorcycle that I have no previous experience with.

Right now. I'm leaning toward the motorcycle.

Now, I'm not really a biker. Never liked them. Maybe it's a nerd thing. HOWEVER, in my case it makes sense. It's cheap...the insurance is insanely cheap...the gas mileage is amazing....so on and so forth. Most of what I'd dislike about motorcycles are things I'm now used to because of my bicycle (shopping for stuff, for instance). And I kinda like having an excuse to not driving other fuckers around all day like I have ever since I've learned to drive.

Also, my roommate has a nice starter bike (Honda Rebel) he'd like to sell me. They keep their value pretty well (his '85 is still worth close to what a brand new Rebel is...and they haven't changed in all these years) so it's a safe investment. Plus, fuck, he's right there to help me maintain and learn about bikes....and unlike a car I'll actually bother to learn and maintain this thing.

But I've never rode a bike before...so made me nervous. And thus the roommate, tonight, taught me how to ride a motorcycle. And, other than that same base fear I had when I was learning to drive a car, I think I did pretty okay. Sure, sharp turns scare the fuck out of me still and I need to get used to shifting (I never even learned to drive a stick) which is even different on a bike....but all these will be solved quickly. Maybe even by the time I'm out of my motorcycle safety course.

Okay. I'm not going to say much until I work out some details...but it looks as though I got an honest to goodness partner to start doing a true-blue webcomic. I want to say who....but I'm going to wait just a little bit. Don't wanna jinx it.

So now that I have an artist on my side, the question will be which webcomic will go into the production? I mean this account alone is filled with good ideas that never went anywhere. Well, I have it down between two--The Drew Reynolds Experience and Sanguine & Daisy. I WAS going to just let my partner pick, but I came up with an idea this morning that would be creative and would maybe give the two of us something to test our collaborative efforts together.

I'm going to write two strips (or one extra large one) where a character from each IP (Drew and Daisy) will pitch themselves to you. Let's me have a tiny chance to flesh them out more and...it's sorta adorable.

So I'll try to draw them out later today (haven't decided if I'd do it on uStream) and hopefully soon you'll see another journal/deviation with the strips. And we'll see what works. Maybe me and my partner will just decide what we have more fun writing and drawing for and ignore you all together...who knows! World is full of mysteries.

[And enjoy your Windows 7....came out today....I don't have it just yet.]

_Scary Stories

Every month we're going to do a video edition of I Am Nerd to go along with our weekly audio edition. Since this month is Halloween, the team decided we'll put on our own version of Are You Afraid of the Dark (look it up) and tell some ghost stories that WE wrote.

Thus this week I'll have to come up with a short story (which I'll eventually post here)....but I'm having writer's block. I don't know if I should do a comedic Halloween story or try for something scary. Ideas?

_Should I Stream

I got the uStream account that I do I Am Nerd live from now...and I got a application that lets me stream my desktop. So people could now watch me draw. But would that be interesting to anyone? Perhaps if I did like a live Illustrator class where you could ask me questions? Feedback welcome.

[Oh, and might be signing up for the Airforce]
